Thinking About Quitting?

It doesn’t have to be a New Year to make a resolution

If you have already met one of our stop smoking advisors at one of our promotional stands you will have already been asked the question “do you want to stop?”. However some visitors to our site have been recommended to visit us by successful quitters but the question remains the same: “so do you really want to stop?”. We have heard a number of answers over the years but they mostly fall into two categories from the 100% committed “yes” to the slightly less committed “well I’ve thought about it!”.

We know through experience that virtually every smoker has considered stopping at some point and in today’s world, where we have a wealth of information at our fingertips, we all know we should. When most smokers began their smoking careers they started through peer pressure, because they “wondered what it was like” or they grew up around smoking and it just seemed the natural thing to do!

Very few of us had all the facts about smoking at hand when we started, if we had we would have surely made the right choice and simply decided not to start! We have seen, especially over the last few years, attitudes to smoking are changing significantly and it is becoming increasingly less socially acceptable since the introduction of the ban on smoking in public places. Many people we speak to say that they feel like a social leper. Your choice of smoking when out socialising has now been removed, when you are waiting for your daily bus or train you can no longer relieve the boredom by simply lighting up. Most smokers have now stopped smoking in their own homes and find themselves confined to the back door, garden or garage.

So why do you continue to put yourself through this ordeal? Quite simple really, you are addicted to an incredibly powerful drug and one which in a way controls your life. No one else can make the decision to quit for you, if we are pushed or persuaded into something you truly don’t want to do your chances of success are greatly reduced. So if you have said to yourself ” I want to QUIT ” then there is now an option for you that many ex-smokers would happily recommend.

How does the mouthwash and spray work?

As with most highly successful products our stop smoking program is in essence very simple. There are a number of alternatives currently on the market available from your chemist or GP to help the smoker stop but no other product creates a physical barrier between the smoker and their cigarette. To put it simply most smokers, although driven by habit, enjoy smoking in some way.

Smoking is obviously very addictive but the majority of the time that a smoker has a cigarette it is usually out of habit rather than a craving, it is something that you have trained yourself to do, there are certain triggers throughout the day which without thinking entice you into having a cigarette. Whether it’s that first cigarette of the day before you start work, when you get a break from work, finish work, after a meal, enjoying a drink, when you are bored, stressed, even if you see someone else light a cigarette, if you are happy or feeling down the first thing a smoker normally reaches for is that habitual cigarette.

The difference when you use our stop smoking program is that any enjoyment you associate with smoking is completely removed. It works because it changes the way the cigarette smoke tastes in your mouth, from smoking being a rather tasteless experience almost immediately the smoker can taste the difference in the smoke. To say the taste is unpleasant would be an understatement. However, the taste changes with smoking more of the cigarette and in most cases the smoker finds it physically impossible to continue – this is because of the displeasure the taste of the smoke leaves on the taste buds. Food and drink are not affected.

The effects of the product can last depending on the individual using the product as every palette is unique. We have had smokers who report the effects of the product lasting as long as eight hours however results may vary, hence why we recommend that you use the oral spray each time you have the urge to attempt to smoke. With continuous use of the “Let’s Just Quit” product the urge to attempt to smoke will become further and further apart because the smoker begins to associate smoking with something they find deeply unpleasant rather than enjoyable. As this association becomes stronger, the positive association will get weaker until it becomes a very negative association and, over time, the smoker will usually to make the conscious decision to QUIT.

But as with any other product which is available to assist the smoker in achieving their goal to quit smoking, they require the most important ingredient of all – You need to want to stop. But as we always ask – Why would you want to carry on?
